Barber Institute Audio Described Arts Tour and Lunchtime Recital – Friday 30 November 2018

We invite you to join us for a visit to the Barber Institute in Birmingham for an audio described art gallery tour and discussion. This will be followed by a lunchtime recital with Katie Stevenson and Jâms Coleman after her performance of Porpora’s L’ Agrippina.

The visit is a really good way of learning about works of art with friendly and welcoming sighted guides to help us. The enthusiastic and interesting guides at the Barber will bring works of art to life with their fascinating and informative descriptions of great works. No matter if you can only see very little or not at all, they can paint a picture with words that make the day a truly enjoyable experience.

The tour and recital are free, however, if you choose to travel with us from West Bromwich, a fee of £5 is payable to cover the minibus costs.

The transport will meet us in the usual place at West Bromwich Bus Station opposite the Billiard Hall at 10am to arrive at the Barber for 10.30am. If you wish to make your own way, please arrive at the Barber for 10.30am.

We will have refreshments there, followed by the tour and recital. A small selection of sandwiches are available to buy at the café. There is a gift shop with a selection of books, souvenirs and charity Christmas cards.

We will be leaving the Barber at 2.30pm to arrive back at West Bromwich for approximately 3pm.

Venue address: Barber Institute. Edgbaston Park Road (off Bristol Road), Edgbaston, B15 2TS.

Please contact the SVI office on 0121 525 4810 or email info@sandwellvisuallyimpaired.org.uk to book your place on the minibus or to tell us you are travelling direct to the Barber. We do hope you can join us.
