Appy Hour

Want to learn more about smart phones, mobile devices and tablets? Contact the office to find out more about our Appy Hour sessions.  These are small groups that meet once a month to support each other to get the most from their mobile devices and to learn about new apps and what they can do. Techie buddies will be there to support you to gain confidence. Call the office to find out more about which of these appy hour groups will suit your needs.

Here to help listening support

Need to talk? SVI have a listening service, where you can talk to a fully qualified Counsellor about the things that are bothering you.  One-to-one sessions take place in the strictest confidence.
Prefer to share your worries and concerns in a confidential and supportive group? Then contact the SVI office and we can give you more details about these fully confidential sessions that currently take place on a Wednesday evening.

Women’s Group

SVI have received funding from Healthy Sandwell for a women’s group. There are two sessions a month, to cater for women who prefer a daytime meeting and those who can only do evenings. Sessions will be on the third Monday of each month from 11am to 1.30pm, or Monday evenings on the first Monday of each month from 5pm to 7.30pm.

The group is for women aged between 18 and 74. It will include guest speakers and information about women’s health issues, lifestyle matters like make-up and fashion, as well as holding pamper sessions and social outings. It’s going to be informative and fun, so if you are a visually impaired woman in this age group, contact us to find out more.

Want to be part of a social group that is active and doesn’t want lack of sight to stand in the way of trying new things? The SocialEyes group is being set up to offer adults of any age who are still adventurous the chance to get out and live life to the full. Sighted support will be on hand to offer assistance for the things you need a helping hand to do. SocialEyes will send you regular details of a range of social activities, so there’s bound to be something to interest you. To find out more about this brand new SVI group, call the office.

A social and wellbeing group for visually impaired people aged 50 plus. The Active 60 group was one of SVI’s first groups and runs social activities like trips out, meals, and get togethers at the SVI base at the Town Hall. Contact the office for more information.
